Installing click Luxury Vinyl flooring is a task that at first seems fairly straight forward & possible for most people, but there are several issues that can come up that are difficult to plan for if it isn’t something you do every day. Every home is different, which makes small things like where to start your first row differ from project to project. Some door jams need to be undercut, some are too high. Sometimes tying transitions into old flooring like carpet takes the touch of a carpet pro. Knowing what to do when issues arise is ultimately what the pros can offer. What to do when the walls are not square. What to do when there is a hump or dip in the slab. How to slide planks under door jams in tight spaces… the list of odd situations is endless & so are the tricks to solve them.
We generally charge $2.50 per square foot to install Luxury Vinyl floating flooring. This does not include any kind of prep that may be needed to repair issues with the slab such as depressions or high spots. These issues can only truly be assessed after the old flooring has been taken up, but before the new floor goes down.
This is one of the most important conversations we can have before the sale is made and the install process starts. We will discuss every process, and possible cost before we do anything in your home. Then, during the install process if we find that there are issues to be addressed, our guys will stop work until they can show you what they have encountered & go over with you the repair solution. Only when you are satisfied that you understand what is needed & agree to additional costs will we proceed with any further work.
There is no one best way to solve issues like these, as each home is different & unique. There is an entire industry built around solving subfloor related issues & finding the best product for each individual problematic slab is a part of what we do.
It is also important to us at Eckard’s to never perform any work that we need to charge you for without going over that work first. It’s amazing to me that some builders, remodelers, handymen & the like agree to a project price then present a final invoice different than what was discussed because extra work had to be done & they just did it. I have been on the wrong side of that & it leaves a bad feeling.
We will never surprise you with a bill that is higher than what we discuss & agree to. Ever.
