Eckard’s is a family owned local business in Savannah. We’re proud to be a part of the community and proud to give back to the community that has been our home for so many years. That’s why we were so happy to donate to the Nine Line Foundation’s Veteran’s Village Project when our friends at JDog Junk Removal told us about this great project for homeless veterans.
What is the Nine Line Foundation?
The Nine Line Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to meeting the financial and specialized needs of severely injured soldiers and their families. They’ve been helping seriously injured veterans for close to 10 years now. They are based in Savannah and in our opinion do remarkable work making huge impact on these soldiers lives. I was really inspired to learn about them and I think you will be too. Check out their website here : NineLineFoundation.org
What is a Nine Line?
Yeah, I didn’t know either. It’s a term that Medevacts use to call in a combat injury. It goes without saying that combat injuries are stressful and hectic situations. So, “9 line” is a way to calmly and accurately report that a soldier needs medical attention (we learned about that here). The 9 Line Foundation is a non-profit that takes care of these wounded veterans and their families well after their time on the battlefield.
Veterans Village : Tiny Homes for Homeless Veterans
It’s heartbreaking to see men and women return from their time serving our country and wind up with no job, no money, and no home. There are way too many people living like this in our community in Savannah. NIne Line is working together with the Chatham Homeless Authority to build temporary homes for homeless veterans in Savannah.
The homes will be a place where Veterans in need can catch their breath and learn skills that will enable them to get on their feet and stay on their feet for good. The program includes housing, education, and food; everything these brave men and women need to start their lives again. Eckard’s Savannah Tile Contribution
Eckard’s in Savannah donated more than 15 pallets of tile to build flooring for these homes. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve these brave families who have done so much for our community and our country.
