WE LOVE SAVANNAH!

We are so proud to live and work in the Hostess City.  Since flooring is our business, we thought it might be nice to share some of our favorite flooring in Savannah, including Savannah GA hardwood.

SAVANNAH COBBLESTONES:
The story is that these famed flooring elements got to Savannah by boat from Europe.  They cover River Street now, but they got here as ballast at the bottom of Cotton shipping boats years and years ago.

Jepson Center
One of the most recent additions to the landscape of Savannah’s Historic District, the Jepson Center includes beautiful wooden floors  highlighted by the amazing natural light in the Moshe Safdie designed building.

Juliet Gordon Low House
How can you write about Savannah without mentioning Savannah’s most celebrated girl scout?  The Juiliette Gordon Low House is a treasure of history and design.  The carpet in her home is befitting a family of stature in the early 19th century.

Gryphon Tea Room
The tile flooring in Savannah’s famous Gryphon Tea Room is actually dates back to the room’s original owners “Solomon’s Drug Store”.  That is why the tiles in entryway still spell out the word “Solomon”.

Mercer Williams House
Savannah was always beautiful and often famous, but John Berendt’s 1994 Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil  gave our fair city a major tourism boost.  The Mercer-Williams House was the home and crime scene of the story’s main character, Jim Williams (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Arthur_Williams).  Williams exceptional taste is visible everywhere in the home, including in this lovely bedroom area rug.

Green Meldrim House
This grand historic home was once the residence of Union General William T. Sherman at the end of his historic march to the Sea.   Perhaps that is why later custodians of the house made a point to put a photo of Confederate General Robert E. Lee so prominently in this beautiful study with dark hardwood flooring.
